Mary Ann Anthony, MSN, CRNP

Mary Ann Anthony, MSN, CRNPMary Ann Anthony completed her primary nursing education at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, receiving the Guggenheim Award for excellence in Maternal Child health Nursing. As she worked in obstetrics and later intensive care nursing and raised her two children she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at LaSalle University in Philadelphia. She graduated cum laude and was elected to Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society. She was awarded a grant for her masters degree in nursing, completing it at the University of Pennsylvania where she received the alumni award for Creativity in Nursing Practice for her masters project.

Following graduation she founded and ran her company which provided rehabilitation and case management services for injured workers. Her philosophy of being a patient advocate to quickly decrease pain and improve function provided a win-win for workers and employers. After ten years, missing clinical nursing she moved to Baltimore to work in private practice in pain management. She attended University of Maryland and completed her nurse practitioner education and is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.

With over twenty years experience working in chronic pain Ms. Anthony’s goal is to compassionately help each patient build the best combination of medications, therapies, and life style changes to improve function and quality of life.

Ms. Anthony has been appointed as Faculty Associate in the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health at the University of Maryland and serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students interested in chronic pain management. She is active in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland and in Sigma Theta Tau. She is a Baltimore Ravens fan and enjoys knitting, making antique reproduction embroidered samplers, reading, biking, and traveling to visit her children.
